    Reflex M Phono Stage

"After trying every other possibility in phono stage design I always arrive back at the Reflex M design. I try to improve it, but nothing compares. I have to conclude that, for moving magnet and high output moving coil, this is the limit - the ultimate." [Graham Slee, Jan 20th 2013]

The Reflex M phono stage is for Moving Magnet, Moving Iron and High-Output Moving Coil phono cartridges in the sensitivity range 1.5 to 10mV.

This latest version introduced 2012 incorporates our ultra-linear innovations making for an even more natural and dynamic signature-free sound — the way music should be.

The Reflex M phono stage makes music like no other phono stage. It's sound stage is rock steady, having both width and depth, placing the music beyond the speakers. In a great sounding system its spatial capabilities are so lifelike it can often trick the ears into layering instruments vertically too!

It uses our ultra-linear fast active phono stage technology, combined with its true small and large signal symmetrical slew-rate, to pull more music from the groove and relegate vinyl nasties like clicks and pops further into the background.

In layman's language, our fast active phono stage technology means the circuit completely "forgets" the music it reproduced 0.06 micro-seconds before. That means there is no veil over the music, nor ever can be.

Ultra-linear - as close as you can get to valves (tubes) with the reliability and repeatability of solid state - never overloads like bi-polar transistors (BJTs). The cartridge is never called on to drive the voltage amplifier stage (VAS) integrator capacitor (like it is with integrated MM/MC phono stages), so it never destroys the music's integrity enabling you to relax deeper into the music.

The Reflex M is strong on tonal perfection and low on tonal distortion, rendering each instrument and voice in its exact register, underpinned with a detailed tuneful bass.

Although there is a dedicated moving coil Reflex – the Reflex C, the Reflex M phono stage can be coupled with the Elevator EXP electronic step-up "transformer" to provide the ultimate moving coil listening experience.

    Reflex C MC Preamp

The Reflex C MC preamp is our one box solution for conventional (low) output moving coil cartridges having an output of 0.2 to 1.0 mV.

It's a MC preamp that provides that missing excitement to moving coil cartridge listening, revealing the secrets hidden in your vinyl - as well as great dynamics, delicacy and just the right amount of warmth.

Imagine a pure tube/valve solution for moving coil phono stage pre-amplification with no step-up transformer? Unfortunately tubes/valves don't have the open-loop gain and are too noisy to do moving coil pre-amplification without a step-up transformer, but now, with the Reflex C phono stage you can get the sound you're searching for - yes, that illusive tube/valve linearity, from solid state!

But how? Conventional solid state moving coil phono stage preamps have poor open-loop bandwidth which means their open-loop response is only a few tens of hertz. Negative feedback straightens out their response but in doing so it introduces phase modulation from bass frequencies upwards.

The Reflex C has more than ten times the open-loop bandwidth of a solid state moving coil phono preamp which means there's less than one tenth the phase modulation

There are many more refinements in the Reflex C phono stage, including excellent radio frequency rejection as well as the best branded components available that gel to make the most precise sound stage delivering an unbeatable moving coil musical experience.
